Enhancing cultural heritage
given a region: identify a character, optimise a culture, redefine an identity
IDEAI helps institutions to identify, define and implement strategies for protecting, enhancing and managing tangible and intangible cultural heritage, applying methodologies for multidisciplinary analysis and planning capable of matching development requirements with the ability of local identity and history of a territory to generate and convey a specific character and personality.
The activities supporting decisions on the protection, enhancement and management of cultural heritage include:
- Qualitative and quantitative analysis of regional potential
- Heritage repositories, catalogues, and inventories by means of regional vertical information systems
- UNESCO management plans
- Protection and enhancement plans
- Strategic and operational marketing for cultural tourism
- Physical or socio-economic redevelopment of urban areas and historical buildings
- Identifying organisational management models
- …
The professionals at IDEAI have acquired valuable international experience, in heritage survey and catalogue programmes, projects for enhancing natural, urban, architectural and archaeological heritage, feasibility studies for the reuse and re-functionalisation of historical buildings and areas, defining organisational and management solutions and economic-heritage modelling. In these areas IDEAI collaborates systematically with international experts on architectural restoration and conservation of historical buildings.
The IDEAI departments involved in supporting the enhancement of cultural heritage liaise with government offices and local councillors responsible for heritage management and the related local and regional development benefits, with managers of the UNESCO World Heritage Centre regional units and with management bodies of Foundations, NGOs and other not-for-profit organisations.
